Golden Ticket and BGU Labs

Hey all,

Looking at my choices for Golden Ticket usage, and while I see a bunch of BGU labs available, when I look in the regular course area and the AAP area, I don't see them. Would kinda like to look before I buy as it were to make an informed decision.

Any suggestions on where to look?

Not 100% sure it will show up if you never did any of the labs, but in the Courses area on the Cool Stuff menu, I have an entry that says BGU Labs. The BGU Labs page has a Course Navigation section with the BGU Labs that I bought, and a Back Issues section with the ones I didn't buy. Each of those Back Issues has a Learn More button with a video about the lab.

These were initially "marketed" as Challenges, then collectively referred to as BGU Labs.

If you ever did one, "BGU Labs" is also in your course list.

If you never did one there is nowhere to look for them.

These are not "courses" included with AAP Membership.

However, by request, Griff has included them for GT redemption.

This also came up in another recent thread.

Each lab/challenge had several live sessions during the month and participants would submit recordings following each session. Originally we would email our recordings to Griff and he would respond individually by email.

Eventually we started posting to the forum and Griff critiqued us collectively. This later became AAP "FIX-IT" sessions.

Here's a very brief summary for each lab.

Dec 2016: Soloing using "canned licks"/improvising

Feb 2017: Triplet Mania-speed, technique, control and timing playing triplets
Mar 2017: create song without band or jamtrack
Nov 2017: mixing Major & minor in "core area", i.e. root on 2nd string

Feb 2018: chord by chord soloing using construction kit positions
Jun 2018: 4 chorus jam-rhythm, 2 solo, rhythm
Sep 2018: soloing using 3 different sounds over 12-bar
Oct 2018: soloing over given 12-bar blueprint
Nov 2018: Sunshine Of Your Love Workshop (became an offered course)

Jan 2019: Little Wing style
Feb 2019: SRV Pride & Joy
Apr 2019: Griff's "Someone" complete
Jun 2019: 3 Soloing strategies - write first, create jamtrack, tweak
Sep 2019: Michael Bloomfield licks

Mar 2020: Albert King licks
Apr 2020: BB King licks

AAP "theme" based months, like Jimi Hendrix currently, are similar to what these labs/challenges were like. :)
