Great question Stephan! If you've followed Griff for any amount of time, you know that "timing" is very high on his list of important skills! In fact, I've heard him say that "hitting the right note at the wrong time is worse than hitting the wrong note at the right time!"
Here's one of his lessons on timing:

What Does It Mean To Play In Time?

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
What courses do you have? In all of the courses I have from Griff, he constantly preaches that you need to count out loud as you play. Especially in the beginning. Do you have the Strumming and Rhythm Mastery course? I've also heard that the Beginning Blues Guitar is an excellent starting point to build strong fundamental guitar skills. If you don't already have these two courses, do what you can to get them. You will not regret it and they will help you immensely.
