Diatonic vs Pentatonic

Hey Griff

Wasn't able to sit in on the session today but just watched it and I have a couple of questions, one non-blues and one blues. Want to make sure that what I have been working on makes sense and I am not in need of redirection.

Non-Blues
In a situation where you are playing over a non-blues and the chords are all in a single key. If you play Major pentatonic corresponding to the chord over the major chords and minor pentatonic corresponding to the chord over the minor chords aren't you essentially playing diatonic? And favoring chord tones since 3 of the 5 notes in a pentatonic scale are chord tones?

Blues
I have been working on playing:

Over the I chord
I Major pentatonic with occasionally adding the b7 because it is a chord tone, or
I minor pentatonic occasionally adding the 3 because it is a chord tone

Over the IV chord
I minor pentatonic occasionally adding the 6 because it is a chord tone- the 3rd of the IV

Over the V chord
I minor pentatonic occasionally adding the 2 because it is a chord tone- the 5th of the V

Does what I am doing make sense or do I need redirection?
