Computer Speakers

Anybody got any recommendations for 30W+ speakers that have the capability of plugging into a computer's sound card?

I say "computer speakers" because they have to fit on or under a 3X5 table that shares a printer and router.

I currently have a set of BOSE 20's but I need a little more "oomph" for backing tracks due to failing hearing and minimal rhythm. I need a bass drum and bass thumping my brain when running the tracks.

Thanks in advance.

these are small and simply awesome. Long enough cables to let you put the SW out of the way. Sound, yes.

These are what I use for mixing, etc. If I accidentally force a spkr into over-excursion I would rather cook something cheaper (the Klipsh were 124, these can be found for 55 or so. They don't sound as good as the Klipsh...of course. But they seem to take a beating and sound fine. They pop up on musician's friend sdotd now and then.

Personally I'm using Yamaha HS5 monitors. Not sure how many watts they are but they're plenty loud.

I think you are correct in seeking out "computer speakers".
There are lots of decent monitors that might work but, keep in mind, monitors are designed for close proximity listening so, if they are not aimed at your ears at the correct distance, they may not deliver the best sound.

I think Elwood's on to something here, you said you need more "oomph", I think adding a sub woofer might be your answer with small speakers.
You can put the sub anywhere in the room so, table space should not be an issue.
A few to look at: https://www.frys.com/search?cat=-70...101555 2ahju7h1&resultpage=1&start=20&rows=20

I've also looked at those IK micros that Mark recommended, they look good with good reviews but, never heard them live.

Hey Cap, you can hear those things rooms away. They are actually my second set. Years of abuse and neglect cost me my first set. I recently got my current set direct from Klipsh for 124. There would be a fine only stereo. The sound, listening, quality between the Ks and the Mackie monitors is night and day. The monitors are for work and they sound fine. Having both sets allows me to try to post something most of you guys have a chance of hearing.
Anyway, Sometimes I use a bass or keys. If I have to go hunting for a speaker cone it will be from the monitors. :sneaky:
