Christmas in Quarantine

Not a blues, definitely not a blues. I wrote this at 5:30 this morning when I couldn't sleep

Christmas in Quarantine 4/4 slowly
Intro [Am] [G] [F] [E7] / [Dm] [E7] [Am] [Am]

[Am] Corona [E7] Virus was [Am] just a [E7]whisper
When [Am] Christmas [E7] came last [Am] year [Am]
A [Am] little [E7] item [Am] in the [E7] news
[Am] T-Was not[E7]hing to [Am] fear [Am]
We [C] sang and [G] laughed and [C] opened [G] gifts
A [F] Norman Rockwell [G] scene
[Am] Now we’re [E7] here [Am] on our [E7] own
Christ[Dm]mas in [E7] quaran[Am]tine

In March we thought we best stay home
For a week or two
When April came the restaurants closed
The movie theatres too
By June we heard of a miracle drug
Hydroxychloroquine
Now we’re here on our own
Christmas in quarantine

[C] [C] [F] [C] / [C] [C] [F] [C] / [Am] [G] [F] [E7] / [Dm] [E7] [Am] [Am]

The grand children are getting taller
We see them all on Zoom
We hope and pray that next Christmas day
We can be in the same room
We must wait for our turn
To get the new vaccine
We are here, all alone
Christmas in quarantine

I tried to make a chord progression that went back and forth from minor to major keys in an attempt to make it seem like it came from the Middle Ages.
In this version I added a lyric to the bridge, stealing liberally from "We Three Kings". I also resolve on the last chord by going to A major. Catholic upbringing had me at mass everyday in grade school.

Thank you. I hope that the "Use By" date on this song has permanently expired. I'll hang onto the chord progression and melody in case I try to write a fake folk song like "Darcy Farrow"
