Got up and forced myself to play some today. Any doctor I have ever talked top, has told me, any injury or anything like that, being stagnant is their worse enemy.

This is only the beginning of an idea that came into my head yesterday....................anyone wanna feel free to try and make it cool, go ahead. I am still deciding on rhythm and chords, this is like the 3rd run through since the lyrics

An old man went to the cemetery to see what he could see

There were no fights

There was no strife

Just people resting peacefully

I don’t see no color sitting here

The headstones look the same

No black no brown no white skin tone

Theres no one here to blame

These soldiers fought and died for you

Their color you cant see

Your rights are still protected

Because of them you’re free

Now would be the perfect time to stop and take a knee

Give thanks to the lord above that you had men like these

Freedom is last only as long

As good people stand tall

You cant run and hide every time

When you get the call

3% of girls and boys

They will write that check

Up to an including our own life

Our country we will protect

Unless you walked in their shoes

You really cant understand

The pain and fear in their hearts

When the gun is put in their hands

You don’t have to be a soldier

Theres other ways to serve

Policeman, teacher, firefighter

Your respect they all deserve

Mark,
Good sentiment in those lyrics! (y)
I see physical therapy must be helping, you haven't lost the ability to pound the shit out of that guitar.

I really liked the chit chat up front, you're very personable and genuine.
I think you need a TV show or some kind of internet talk show.:sneaky:

PS
Tacos are generally considered Mexican food,.......... capisce?

Its funny, when I play just guitar, I can play softer, but something about trying to sing, I just cant stop it.................besides its an ovation, arnt they like a les paul, you beat the snot out of them ?

Honestly, this was I wrote down the lyrics, played the chords in my head, went through once, I think I want to change it to more of a "One Tin Soldier" type of vibe, at about 72 bpm, then end with more of freebird kind of strum, at least thats how my head hears it

The first 4 verses are golden. The others could use a bit of tweaking. Thanks for posting this...

Steve

PS. Lighten up on the strumming. Try ditching the pick?

its something when I try to sing, I just cant help myself.

We are going to try to record it this weekend properly with a one tin soldier vibe, but would love some suggestions if you have them. Being a military family, military songs mean a lot to us
