BBG Sitting Easy Blues - Transposition

Hello, I am working on the Sitting Easy Blues from lesson #3 of BBG. The song is in the Key of E, but if I wanted to transpose it to play over an Am Pentatonic, how would I go about doing that?
Thank you,
Brooks

I’m assuming you mean the other way around. You want to transpose it to A and play Am pent over it.

Since it’s in open position it’ll be a little more involved if you want to play it in A and stay in open position.

You'll need to transpose note by note from E minor pent down to A minor pent.

Or you could just capo the 5th fret and not change a thing. :sneaky:

Again, it depends on where you want to play it.

If you want to stay in open position, you will have to move single notes down rather than up.

If you move up to 5th position you can’t just move everything up, fingering~wise.

You will have to use barre chords and a "closed" minor pentatonic pattern.

Or use a capo.

It's designed to be a relatively easy piece for a beginner to play in open position using one finger per fret, one at a time (except the B7 chord). Transposing to A in any position is more "advanced".
