solderless cable system

I 've always made and repaired my own cable . Any thoughts on these solderless cables . I need to get some new ones and these would make repairs easy no matter where I am .

I have used Bullet Cable connectors and cable for my pedal board.  They worked really great.

But they don't seem to be available any more.
These GFS connectors are pretty much the same thing, but they can come unscrewed, whereas the Bullet cables couldn't.  Don't know that I would trust these not to.  I DO know that if I ever use them, I will definitely use red lock-tight and a couple pair of small vice grips and really tighten the devil out of them.

Hey - I made all the patch cables for my pedal board (12 patch cables) in under one hour using the Bullet Cable stuff.  They appear to be out of production, but the George L stuff looks to be nearly identical if not better.

They all look the same to me.

My problem isn't the soldering.  I can solder, and it's a better connection, period.

But what fails in the cable is not the solder, but the wires in the cable break from repeated flexing.  I don't know that these would fare any better?  Maybe since you are clamping down on the entire cable with your setscrew it keeps it locked in?

Well, it took me nearly a full hour to solder just one Switchcraft in-line jack, and I made 12 short patch cables (24 plugs) in an hour.  It would have taken me a good long day stripping cable, separating the shield from hot wire, and soldering them.  The Bullet Cable connectors and George L connectors are just plain SLICK.

I feel the same way capn . Do they make a cable support like we would use for a power cord . I use braided wire supports to help the ac cords from being pulled out of the machines I make . Anything on the market made for instrument cables .

I'm thinking something like these in 1/4 " instrument cable size .

I've used the George L's for a long time.... they work, but they will fail if you change things around a lot. In the old days before solderless I always made my own and they'd last for years.

Like most things, convenience comes with a little bit of a price.
