I saw a Vox SSC33 at the local guitar center about a month or so ago.  Very nice quality.  The fit and finish were beautiful and felt really nice to play.  Even the toggle switches felt like higher quality than a lot of asian imports.  Can't say how it sounds as I didn't plug it in.  Not in the market for another electric or else I would have plugged it in and gave it a go it felt so good. Nice guitar.

It looks like in order to get the full capability out of those pickups (two three-way toggles), you have to pop for the $999.99 model.

I have two nice 55 sdc one in tea burst and the other in sunburst, at the price they are at the moment absolutly brilliant, if you can run to it the Virage 2 at £1200 is a steal reduced from £2600,
They will soon creep up again when they are better known

Well, they certainly sound great, and have a ton of verstility, and judging from the reviews I have read, the quality is outstanding.  So yes, I expect they will become well known for those qualities and because of those qualities, and I expect the price will go up.  All they are lacking is a model with a tremolo.

The price drop was explained to me by a Vox rep, because they are a relative unknown to guitar players they are reducing the price of the ones in stock to get them out there to players who would find the initial price too much , to pay for an unknown quantity.
Once they are are out there and getting a name dont be surprised if they dont return to the origional prices.
They are far better designed and produced than many guitars in the same price bracket (pre price drop)
And what is it with this constant reference to asian made guitars, both fender and gibson are over priced for what they are, and they still produce some dogs, american made is NOT a guarantee of quality

If I didn't already have eight freaking guitars, I would have a serious case of GAS right now.

One thing about these guitars is that they do not lend themselves to swapping pickups.  You have to live with what you bought.  So many players probably won't buy them until they have actually played them and given them a thorough try-out.

A very good point , i did find this though of someone that had.  it might be a Tech job though rather than a few hrs on a sunday afternoon.

He needs to get turned on to a noise suppressor pedal.   His high gain channel sounds like an arc welder when on idle.

He replaced his pickups with P90s because his guitar had the earlier Vox pickups in it ... the ones prior to the CoAxetm pickups, and the earlier pickups weren't all that great.

Last night checked out three of the VOX 33 series at Guitar center.

One all black, one brown sunburst, and one gold top. All three looked beautiful and well made.

I played two of them.  The brown sunburst needed a set up.  The neck had no relief and the string buzz was so bad that it was unplayable.  I thought to my self Hmmmmm... disappointing start and hung it back on the wall.

I then chose the gold top.  It played nice and smooth with no buzz at all and I really liked the feel and shape of the body and neck.

The controls of the 33 series I my opinion (keep in mind I only played with them briefly) seemed to have only minor effects on tone and flavor,

Over all they were nice guitars but I would go with an EPI LP at a comparable price, for more control and a wider range of sound.

However; I left Jonesing for a chance to try the VOX 55 series. I'm thinking the 55 series with the added switches and knobs just might be GAS worthy.  I hope my GC gets a few in the near future.

I've noticed that too in the Youtube demo videos I've seen.  The toggle set on "single coil" does sound single-coilish.  But there is very little difference between the P90 position and the humbucker position.
