I got to hear a single one man lounge act using a "Rain song" carbon fiber guitar, and I am impressed to the MAX. They ain't cheap but damn that thing sounded GOOOOD and I mean real GOOOOOD.
I know Capn Moto plays one and now I know why.

Was it plugged in or was he playing it acoustically?

Eric
Yes it was plugged in. He was mainly playing mellow jazz stuff the 1st night. He was not all that great of a guitar player but the tone was really nice. He let me take a close look at it--offered to let me feel the neck and action unplugged but I said no. As to what it would sound like unplugged he said they were very loud but did not have the wood tone a Martin did. If I were playing plugged I would like to have one, but like Ovations they only sound good plugged in. I checked them out on E-BAY when I got home some guy has one up in Minn. for $1299--that ain't all that bad with hardshell case.
I had one and sold it, and have no idea why.
How did you like it? And what was the pros and cons in your opinion. I find them interesting and would like to know more about them---The model he had was the "Black Ice".

I bought a very early version of the Composite Acoustic Cargo.
It's a small body with a pickup built in, great for travel.

For many years lived on a boat from April thru Oct so, I was always on the hunt for a guitar that would hold up in that environment.
Currently it's my only acoustic and I've never really used it plugged in.
If you've heard any of my acoustic songs, that what I used.
I just started experimenting by going into a D/I on my recording pre-amp. ..wow!.....I like it.
I was expecting a very thin sound, wrong, I'll probably use it on my next song so, you'll hear it then.

After purchasing the acoustic, Composite Acoustic began experimented with a full electric carbon fiber guitar called the Blade.
I bought #61 and soon thereafter they went out of business and eventually sold the brand to Peavey.
I think Peavey still makes the acoustics but, not the electric Blade.

Also,
I've thinking about picking up a small bass to supplement my recordings.
One that is on the sort list is a carbon fiber that breaks down for travel.
It's made my Journey guitars.

Bottom line I'm very happy with both of my carbon fiber guitars and I might buy a carbon fiber bass to boot.

I remember about a year ago when I asked you what kind of guitar you were using and you said---"CARRRRRBBBBBONNN FIBBBBBER" I mistook it for a Martin D-28.
It sounded that good. I might have to ditch the Martin D-21 for one.

Don't do that!
However, for your desert climate, that would be a great instrument.
No worries about drying/cracking wood and pretty rugged for kick'n around.
