I have a set of Lindy Fralin Blues Specials in my Slimline and still can't really bond with it. Thinking about getting a set of higher-output Zexcoils to try.

Blues - it's in me and it's got to come out.
I've become a fan of the JBE Danny Gatton pickups. They will be in my Tele when I get it.

See you down the road!

Sweet guitar and a big congratulations.. P.S. I don't know what's not to like about the S1... It works great the added/fatter tone is killer!! enjoy!!

I had one, like John. A really nice sunburst, that for some reason, I just didn't bond with. It had 1st gen SCN's with S1 switching. Great looking and playing guitar, but I just never felt it sounded Tele enough, I guess. The green one in my pic replaced it.

There are only two switches on my favorite Strat ... a 4-way selector (yes, 4-way) and a simple 3-way toggle, none of which are a proprietary hard-to-figure-out "mystery switch". And the wiring provides much more versatility than any S1 switch (10 combinations series and parallel). Plus my set-up is INTUITIVE and to me how the S1 operates is totally inscrutable without reading a manual to figure out what it does when the selector is in each of its positions.

If you like the S1, go for it ... and hope you never have to work on your guitar because if you ever do you will probably end up just eliminating it and going with standard wiring that you can figure out. :)

How many of you who are sold on the S1 have ever actually rewired a guitar?

I have.. Nothing weird or wonderful about it.

Well I got my new Tele today and the only thing I have to say is........BUDDAH! I am so happy with it. Before today I had only seen the pics on EBAY and they looked great but do not do it justice....the butterscotch blonde is just classic tele and I can't find a blemish on it.... the ASH body Grain is just georgous and don't even get me started on the Neck! SWEEEEEEET.....It easily dials in the classic tele spank but man the S1 switch fattens up the tone to give you a completely different humbuckeish growl.... I've been playing songs on it all day and have dialed in easy Rolling Stones Keith Richards stuff to Andy Summers Police rhythms and with the S1 switch engaged I've even played some Angus Young AD/DC stuff just to see if I can.... So much fun...So glad I got it. Thanks for all of the comments and recommendations....I'm going to try to put a link here to some pictures if any one wants to check it out.
