I have a set of Lindy Fralin Blues Specials in my Slimline and still can't really bond with it. Thinking about getting a set of higher-output Zexcoils to try.
There are only two switches on my favorite Strat ... a 4-way selector (yes, 4-way) and a simple 3-way toggle, none of which are a proprietary hard-to-figure-out "mystery switch". And the wiring provides much more versatility than any S1 switch (10 combinations series and parallel). Plus my set-up is INTUITIVE and to me how the S1 operates is totally inscrutable without reading a manual to figure out what it does when the selector is in each of its positions.
If you like the S1, go for it ... and hope you never have to work on your guitar because if you ever do you will probably end up just eliminating it and going with standard wiring that you can figure out.
How many of you who are sold on the S1 have ever actually rewired a guitar?
I agree ... unless it has an S1 switch in it.I have.. Nothing weird or wonderful about it.
