Tonight was the last 4 hour rehearsal (6-10 PM) and we open tomorrow. It went pretty well.
the main keyboard accompanist is a college student and she's really good and carries the whole thing. The rest of the band is me, some percussionists, two other keyboards, and woodwinds- saxes and flutes and maybe clarinets- they're on the other side of the stage.
It's a very high energy production with close to 50 cast members, lots of costume changes and, in contrast, very minimal sets. Also lots of dancing on stage.
All the band members are young women except me and the percussionists, for whatever that's worth. And the percussionists are young men.
Disparate impact in percussion needs to be addressed!
Oh, wait, maybe disparate impact in saxophones is a crisis that needs to be addressed!
