I get this guys emails all the time........ He usually has kind of a pompous way about him but he knows his stuff.....

Ab would be the most emotional note if it was indeed unexpected. Good video but apparently he's never heard the Beatles or the iv or bVI wouldn't be unexpected :)

Good video, again. IMHO the B is still the most emotional note because generates the most tension in the key of C and cries out to be resolved. Literally cries out :) Plus it's still in key. YMMV of course, and, I know HMV (his mileage varies) because he is making a point to help sell his chord course. Nothing wrong with that either.

How about the quarter step between Eb and E... with a little sugar?

Since we are in C, should it be called Ab or G#? Either way, in notation it's not going to be in the key sig, it will be an accidental. I'm inclin ed to call it G# a sharp 5. But if you wanted to notate Dm7b5 you would probably go with D F Ab C.
