A Fun Brian Setzer Style Pull-Off Run

Nothing fancy today… just a fun lick you should be able to grab fairly quickly.

This works great over a blues in E when the band is swinging pretty hard and the tempo is a little faster.

Have Fun!

Hi Griff. Superb lick, heard it before in early Chet Atkins stuff who happens to be one of my all time favourite guitarists. Found it relatively easy to play but not with the fluidity that you demonstrated. Practice, practice will get me there! Great lesson again, thank you.

Thanks…with any of these pulloffs and fast runs I always get lost with whether the picking hand is doing down or up strokes..and when….or is that just me.?..looks like its down then all the rest are up…Is there a rule ?

Just realizing lately how poor my pull-off technique is. Not sure if it’s finger strength, guitar set-up, or what…but, like everything else, needs work! Thanks!

  32. Hi Griff. I would love to see a video by you devoted to the electric riffs and licks of rockabilly. Especially the unique creative sound of Scotty Moore on those early Sun and RCA Elvis records. The original sound was extrondinary. How did he arrange the chords and notes to sound so good?

  34. Shawn says:

I think it’s good for beginners to help them get used to string skipping with both hands using an easy enough lick. It’s also something that sounds cool and is fun to play and will keep them engaged.

  35. Steven Daniels says:

Great lick Griff, as always, thanks.
