But if you stick with it, you&#8217;re gonna be rewarded.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now to be honest, I don&#8217;t know if that&#8217;s legit or not, I haven&#8217;t checked the source, but it sort of doesn&#8217;t matter in this case because it&#8217;s a great quote.<\/p>\n<p>My 45th birthday is coming up in a couple of days and that means I&#8217;m coming up on my 36th year of playing the guitar&#8230; 30 years professionally (wow!)<\/p>\n<p>And yes, I can tell you from experience, that it&#8217;s easy to get lost in the struggle and forget that it&#8217;s called <em>playing<\/em> guitar for a reason, it&#8217;s supposed to be fun.<\/p>\n<p>But when things are difficult and you&#8217;re working hard to improve your technique or your understanding it&#8217;s easy to forget why you are struggling to learn or understand something new.<\/p>\n<p>So you have to remind yourself once in a while that the reason you practice is to improve and the reason you want to improve is that it makes playing more enjoyable overall.<\/p>\n<p>And when you&#8217;re trying to count something and it&#8217;s slow as molasses, that&#8217;s ok because it won&#8217;t always be that way.<\/p>\n<p>Also remember that everyone loves different aspects of guitar playing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For some folks it&#8217;s all about playing their favorite songs note for note perfect&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For others it&#8217;s the thrill of improvising something cool over a song you&#8217;ve never heard (that&#8217;s me)<\/p>\n<p>And for others it&#8217;s the theory, or the tone, or just the escape from the day-to-day.<\/p>\n<p>It really doesn&#8217;t matter what it is that inspires you to play your guitar, just make sure you include a little of that thing each day so you always have something to look forward to and can always end your practice sessions on a high note (pardon the pun \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and before you leave, let us all know what your favorite part is and what inspires you to play every day in the comments below&#8230; I&#8217;ll bet it&#8217;s pretty eye-opening to go back and read what inspires others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s easy to get bogged down with practicing&#8230; Even Jimi Hendrix is quoted as saying, &#8220;Sometimes you want to give up the guitar, you&#8217;ll hate the guitar.
