Sometimes I gotta just sit back in my favorite chair, crank up some good blues tunes, and listen… and I mean LISTEN to all the little things going on in the track. I have a feeling you can relate… Well, when I have time to sit and listen to music, there are A LOT of guitarists to consider plugging in and trust me, depending on the day I’ve had, my list can be pretty long. One of the great slide guitarists that doesn’t come to mind for a lot of people first is Ry Cooder. Ry can surely play the blues, in addition to a lot of other styles as well, he can write great songs, and has played on stage with some of the best names music history has to offer. So this post is dedicated to the great Ry Cooder, and features three of his “bluesier” recordings – including a collaboration with David Lindley on “Mercury Blues,” a solo recording called “Feelin’ Bad Blues,” and another all star collaboration recording with the great Taj Mahal called “By & By (Poor Me).”<\/p>\n

I encourage you to get your best sounding speakers, or your best set of headphones, find your favorite chair, crank it up, and really listen. You know I’ll be doing the same!<\/p>\n
