Okay, it’s about time I covered one of the other great guitarists to have hit the music scene. Lonnie Mack has such a killer style of guitar playing and a voice like no other, suited perfectly for the blues. The man’s got a lot of soul and has played and recorded with some of the best in the business including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and Roy Buchanan, among many others. i found a bunch of great footage from two big concerts, one with SRV and Double Trouble at the Orpheum Theater and another with a variety of guests at Carnegie Hall. All the clips I’ve seen were outstanding and it made me wish I was sitting there in the audience with all the other fans. While it was hard to choose, I narrowed it down to three videos for this post. I purposely shared videos that I haven’t shared on my Facebook page before and these three made it. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Lonnie Mack and his band played with a variety of guests at Carnegie Hall in 1986. But he and his band played a few on their own as well. Here’s one of the band’s songs, “Satisfy Susie,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhX1lfWZaNw.

[youtube_sc url=”http://youtu.be/xhX1lfWZaNw” height=”420″ rel=”0″]

Next Lonnie Mack wrote a hit instrumental song called, “Wham!” that really set the tone for a lot of guitarists that came after him. Here’s a live performance of the song with SRV and Double Trouble at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbfgBlkSoqc.

[youtube_sc url=”http://youtu.be/IbfgBlkSoqc” height=”420″ rel=”0″]

Lastly, what better way to finish up the post than a stripped down acoustic version of “Falling Back In Love With You.” I really enjoyed this version of the song and hope you do too at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgQCXM6DIns.

[youtube_sc url=”http://youtu.be/MgQCXM6DIns” height=”420″ rel=”0″]

Lonnie Mack is one of the greatest guitarists to ever hit the scene. It’s really saying something when SRV is looking up to you. There’s more coming your way at Blues Guitar Unleashed so stay tuned!

Thanks,

Griff

Okay, it’s about time I covered one of the other great guitarists to have hit the music scene.
