Love this type of practising using a looper, got one myself Griff a Dittio have not used it properly yet though. Will get to it eventually thanks Griff youve made my day.
I have a looper. Now I have a reason to use it!!!!!!!
This is great Griff, thanks man! I enjoyed it with my oatmeal. That’s what old guys like me do at this time of day.😎
Quick question, since you started your progression on beat 2 did you start the Looper on the 1? I’m finally getting a nice continuous loop when starting the Looper and the rythym both on the one.
Hope this question makes sense. Coordination challenge time. This is why Bonham always amazed me and all of us I guess with his drumming!
Have a good one Griff,
Dave in the Adirondacks
Love that blue Les Paul.

Do some rag- time riffs, with chords, thanks.
Thinks Griff. Got a looper a few weeks ago and it is one of the best investments I have made.
I never use a looper ‘cos I was told to stop playing with myself.
That’s how I learned to solo, using a looper. I may not be the best soloist, but I’m better than I was before I started.lol
so….thought this was a demo of a looper? saw the chords to input – was there a looper being used and I missed it?
In case you missed it, the name of the lesson is, “How To Play Your Own Jam Track”, not “How to use a looper.”
Video won’t open. I’ll try downloading… and it works perfectly.
Great lesson, as always. Thanks Griff.
I was thinkig since some time whether to buy a looper or not, but after this lesson I decided I have to have it and I will have it !
thank you Griff,
ciao,
Ugo from
Milano

Do you have a video on just how to use the looper? I have trouble getting a smooth transition from where I start and where I stop on the looper.
As happens occasionally, I was unable to open the video attachment.
Hi Griff
Yes, a great idea here.
I used a Roland multi track recorder to make my own tracks. As I had to play Bass Rhythm and Lead against edited drum machine, it taught me such a lot about playing Rhythm and Bass. Amazing what comes out of your head in the way of new ideas. and sometimes it sounds great when mixed and playback thru Stereo Monitors. I have a Boss looper, but, shame, it seldom gets used.
I recently bought a looper. Once you get the timing right the looper is great. Timing is everything when using a looper or else you get that dead spot at the end. Get your timing down and then Rock on Brothers. It’s a good time. 🤘🏻
My wife just got me a looper, and it’s more challenging to play than I thought it would be. Now I have more good reasons to COUNT WHEN I PLAY! That’s the only way to get a clean, on-the-beat loop.
Massively overcomplicated and wordy explanation of simple chord shapes and ideas. Enough to put many starters off. Keep it simple Griff, and stop using 100 words when one will do!
I would like you to make available tab for each rhythm for 5 different rhythms and feels that you have for backing tracks. Practicing these would be good to put in a looper and to play when backing for a friend.
Then buy one of his courses
I’ve been messing with a cheap looper pedal for a couple of weeks now. Adding the bass notes will make a big difference in the sound. Love it!!!
then buy one of his courses
not meant for you sorry
I really like this one. Going to try it now.
Dude, you should have given a 49% discount on your 49th birthday…..
Happy Birthday Griff
Crucial beginners lesson. Anyone who ever aspires to play in a blues band context needs to know this stuff!
Liked it
Hey Griff and a very Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Hey Griff,
Great how too video. I have a few of your courses. Great stuff, easy to
understand. Also great sounding band. From the land of voo doo and gris gris.
Happy Birthday
“keep the music playing”
Now I have to go shopping for a looper
Happy Birthday Griff and wishing you many more of them. Thanks for sending us all the varied and informative lessons. I surely appreciate them.Good luck in your new Texas digs.
Happy birthday and welcome to Tejas…
happy birthday MY FRIEND ENJOY!
Tommy Emanuel is probably the best at playing all three parts at the same time and it sounds great. He is phenomenal.
Back in the 70’s, I took guitar lessons in Mexico. I remember how the basic teaching was emphasis on the rhythm, singing any song ,just what you are showing on this video..That little machine is amazing. I am contemplating purchasing one
Very helpful, and motivating lesson. I can see how this can be a great help to my playing. Thank you Griff.
If your new to loopers. Loops sound best when you end the loop (stomp the box) in time. Making sure that the previous beat is given its allotted time. Then there is a flow to the loop and no hiccup.
Griff; Thanks good lesson and reminder. Loopers are great for what you just gave a lesson on, but they keep you straight no fudging or bad timing.
So SMOOTH…I love Griff playing rhythm as much as I do playing lead.
I liked this, I have been wanting a looper for quite some time. More important is adding that bass rhythm. I try to pay a lot more attention to my bass note timing as I am a home noodler and find it very rewarding to have a neat bass line running thru my jams. Like Jimi
finally manage to count a tune I wa messing with. Much thanks
A looper is not doing me any good whatsoever…I have no imagination so the loop-di-loop is not helping. So the only thing so far that is helping me is to pay with other jammers and / or get to YT and click on these people that have a fully developed set of licks they sound like a real band. Yeah!
