This is a really great way to just have some fun playing alone or maybe with one other person. I sort of always assumed that most people want to get in to a band or a group at some point, but I've realised after many conversations that a lot of you guys just want to be able to play and have some fun with it.
There's a great side benefit to this also. You really have to take ownership of the beat and the chord changes because you're doing it all. So grab your guitar and have at it.

Griff,
I have been struggling to learn how to play for some time. I've learned bits and pieces along the way but could never put anything together. This is exactly what I am looking for, something I can play alone and build on. I also have the blues guitar unleashed DVD's and have learned a lot from them as well. I am finally making some progress! Thanks, Kris

"Told you an hour ago I was ordering unleashed. Just finished doing that... Can't wait for it to get here." sixty year old former drummer, disabling back injury. I was looking for something to fill my days. I think I just found it... Picked up the guitar six months ago, had been taking some lessons from a kid that could play, but not teach. Hope this takes me beyond that. Looking forward to getting started!
Thank's, David

Nice, Very nice. Most excellent breakdown of Blues guitar I have ever come across. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You clarified more things for me in 13 minutes than all the books, CD's and other How-2 guides than I spent a small fortune on. AWESOMNESS!

Great lesson,
I love the way you teach and explain things. You're so much more natural, believable and come across as a generally nice guy without the hype and ego of the other 6 or so guitar teachers i follow.
Thanks again.

Thanks for yet another installment of endless fun for me to learn. This will take months to learn and a lifetime to master! I read the comments of several older guitar students and I want to share some of my experiences with them. In my younger days I played with the guitar and even had some success playing on stage. It seemed to come easy and fast, and I thought I was pretty good. I could mimic other guitarists work and play loud and fast. I did not know then, but my playing lacked soul and it did not inspire the deep seated satisfaction that I enjoy today from learning the seemingly simple music of the blues. I put down the guitar for 25 years but now I enjoy learning it all over again and enjoying it more than ever! Now that I am learning to play the guitar instead of playing with it!
Rick
sorry that was a typo it was ment to be swing notes

Thanks Griff,
I had to write to you and let you know that i do enjoy learning everything you have been sending to me. Iv'e been having this fear that if you dont see any activity from me you will stop sending me stuff. I just started lessons a couple weeks ago. I am 46 years old and have always had a guitar I just never followed through with it. You make it easy and interesting for anyone. I like my music teacher and as soon as it is possible I will be sending away for your cd's and dvd coarse. That way I wont have to keep bouncing through my e-mails. I am looking forward to that day.Keep up the good work and thankyou for your efforts. Dana

Hi Griff,
I really love you way of teaching 'coz you are very patient. I am 56 yrs old now still trying to learn since I was in high school. I was discouraged by people who teaches not from the hear before. But now i got interested because it is easy to learn from your teachings. So keep up and may the Lord bless you.
thank you for your emails.

Hello Griff;
Just love the "Back Porch Picking" lesson. It's a great variation of what I've been doing for years. Normally I barre it in B,C or D but it is the one thing I can do well. Open strings add a whole new avenue to explore. Having a limited vocal range in the above keys has kind of limited me. Not all of us can sing and I just have to accept that.
Your teaching style even makes learning easy. (even for an old guy) I love the "you can do this" lessons opposed to the "LOOK WHAT ("I") CAN DO" I got from my local teacher.
-Paul

Griff,
I was looking at three different blues courses when I found yours. While practicing my Blues Guitar Unleashed last week I was thinking back to the other courses I had been considering and wondering to myself how I had chosen yours (they weren't bad courses, and also by respectable guys just like yourself). When I get this kind of content in my email my reasoning speaks for itself. Nothing but respect for you and your ability as a guitarist and teacher. Thank You, I am loving playing my guitars again after 10 years of them sitting in the corner gathering dust.

Griff
Just want to thank you for your help and intrest, like most people who have a job and family life It's hard for me to find the time for practice. So if you would stick with me I will look forward to dealing with you in the future.

Hi Griff, i think what you learn people is an excellent way to teach, i have a long long way to go, but these lessons have been invaluable. This is such a simple, easy way of learning, dont get me wrong , initially i thought, i'm never going to do that, its to complcated, but you broke it down into easy lessons, and now im on my way. by the way i am a 58 year old grandmother, and my kids think im mad, but its something i've always wanted to do, and with your help, im sure i'l get there with some hard work and lots of fun along the way. Many thanks for your time Griff, really appreciated.
tony
well i must tell you a story first .met a guitar teacher going to a univerisity to get his masters in music .i needed a lead guitarist in my band so i asked him to join us one night . this guy had absolutly no idea how to play the 12 bar blues . i gave him a quick example an he said he could now play 3000 new songs . what the hell did they teach him in college anyway. anyhow i enjoyed this portion of the teaching and it provided me with some greater knowledge of how to play more linking cords and notes better thanks
Rasndal Sweat
one the second lick ur ending on a e and not mentioning. so for a bit i believed u where ending on that a note 2f 3st, but u are going up to the e, with no mention that that is in the note pattern
NEEDLES
ITS GREAT WHEN YOU CAN HEAR SOMETHING AND BE ABLE TO PLAY IT AND FINALLY ITS ALL COMMING TOGETHER BUT THE MAIN THING THAT HELPS ME IS EVERYOTHER DAY GOING BACK OVER PAST LESSONS AND IVE REALLY THOUGHT THE FOUR NOTE SOLO WAS COOL
LARRY PENNINGTON

Thanks, Griff! More great stuff from you. A lot of us are singers and songwriters who want to be able to accompany ourselves in a professional manner. You are helping immensely!

Hi Griff,
I have ordered but not yet received the lessons, understandably as I am in Australia I have to be patient, but can't wait to get to it. If the lessons are as easy to learn as the video lessons via email, then I will be another satisfied student of the blues. Keep it up,
Cheers,
Les

great lessons sounds like old miss blues great work keep it up for all of the aspiring -players
Andy
Hi Griff, thanks for the video lesson. It is really inspiring to listen and watch how simple you make it to learn new stuff. I can play rhythm quite well and play in a gigging band but always struggled with lead riffs, I think I try to do too much and your lessons have made me realise it's not as difficult as I believed. Many thanks.
Richard Ruh

Griff, I purchased two electric guitars for my two boys aged 12 & 41 which I hoped that they would learn to play. But sorry to say they lost interest real quick, So I started to learn to play and at 50 years of age that isnt easy.
I have only been practising for about 4 months and just recently ordered your beginner blues DVD and Blues guitar unleashed as well. I would like to say thanks for your free lessons you have been emailing me which inspired me to purchase your beginner Blues DVD set.
I also wish to compliment you on the ease of "Playing on the porch" part 1 after printing of the tab notes, I can say that I have the picking down pat within 1 hour of practising it. Now I only have to get the beat correct and it will all come together.
Once again keep up the great work as you are making playing the guitar a whole lot easier.
