Play the one chord as a major and the four and five as 7s ( or 9s etc ).

Its blues right so the answer is when it sounds good to you and your feeling it right?

But some songs to me just sound good like that. Grateful deads deep ellum blues i like using E and sometimes E7 with A7 and B7.

Fleetwood Macs shake your moneymaker same thing. Blasting away full speed ahead bar chords and open E major sounds good to me.

I guess another example is Long Grey Mare from the mac. To me it sounds a little better A7 D7 and E7 but it also sounds good A D7 and E7?

Theres no rules right? What do you people think and hear about the one chord?

When playing with yourself, yes, when playing with others, not always.
