Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I will anyway. I have been trying to understand and apply âlicksâ for some time now in my soloing, and with little results. Am I missing something here?
When is solo, I tend to use more of the scales and modes rather than any of the licks I might have learned. The licks donât seem to blend into the rhythm of the song like scales do. I also have found that most of the licks are centered around the minor pentatonic/blues scale and the dominant 7th chords. I have not found many that use the major pentatonic scale and I have tried to use them in this scale with little results.
If anyone has any experience using licks, or uses them a lot in there soloing I would love the hear from you. I have tried to get my head wrapped around this for well over a year now with little success.
