August 11, 2020, Palm Springs, California, from Corona Virus. Trini was one of my favorite artists. He would take a piece of music made popular by someone else, and make it his own, by giving it a unique sound and feeling. I really enjoyed his work. Tom
He was fun to watch on tv when I was growing up. I loved the diamond sound holes on the Trini Lopez guitar model.... but a Gibson with a Fender headstock? If I had a hammer....
I wanted a Trini Lopez model 335 for quite a while (in either black or cherry burst). I ended up with a Dave Grohl 335 in Pelham blue, which is based on the Trini model. I still want a Trini, even if it's a reissue. The headstock isn't really a Fender style. It's from the Gibson Firebird.
Sorry to hear the sad news. Trini was one of my "light" music favourites. Loved his trumpet playing, as well as his versions of "This Land", "I like to be in America" and many more Americana classics. RIP Trini...
Got my first guitar at age of 13. People like Gene Autry, and Ricky Nelson inspired me to pick up a guitar. Once I could form a few cowboy chords I started to learn a few songs, many of them where from Trini Lopez . Farewell Trini, Thanks for the memories.
