TED Talk- Music as a Window into the Autistic Mind

It makes me happpy to play The Blues!
We had 11 kids on my block, who were like brothers and sisters. Three girls and 8 boys. I still have contact with 7 of them. Maureen, was a little red headed girl complete with freckles. Her younger brother had autism. He would be sitting with us and suddenly start screaming, and his face would turn red. Nothing we did would help. However, Maureen would go to him, and very quietly say something in his ear, and he would completely settle down. It was so magical. What a gift! We lost Maureen April 1958. She died of Asian Flu, at age 12. The San Francisco newspaper said "No one died from the Asian flu". That was official. Many decades later, the SF newspapers admitted that they did not report the number of deaths.
