Student Of The Blues
This is like my 45th attempt at this one. I am trying to get good enough to attend an open mic by myself ( probably be better if I am the only one there). This was recorded with only an I-phone as I am thinking thats more realistic to real world, and in a garage, lots of echo in there
So, this practice was getting through mistakes and not stopping like I have in the past, even with rhythm errors or forgetting the words to my own song. @cowboy and @CaptainMoto have been giving me ways to learn to use a microphone (its really like using another instrument, and since I will be standing, I have to practice this way) I wrote this one to record in a few weeks as a Christmas present to my parents, as its the only thing I can give them my brothers absolutely cant.........heres the lyrics
when my daddy was a young man he worked hard for what he owned
tough on the kids until the day we're grown
sent him off to fight in a foreign land
did what he had to do in Vietnam
My momma would cook and clean almost every day
still had a 9 to 5 as there were bills to pay
momma would do her best not to be unkind
every now and then we would cross that line
sometimes you gotta stand and take the fight
do what you have to do, to do whats right
looking in the mirror see where you stand
sometimes you gotta fight when you're a man
now I'm all grown I got kids of my own
blink of an eye I looked and they were grown
looking back on all the things i've seen
i never seem to care what could have been
sometimes you gotta stand and take the fight
do what you have to do, to do whats right
looking in the mirror see where you stand
in the end you answer to one man
Gonna live forever thats the biggest lie
cant outrun a man called father time
I wouldnt change a thing even if I could
theres some things I really probably should
sometimes you gotta stand and take the fight
do what you have to do, to do whats right
looking in the mirror see where you stand
in the end you answer to one man
