While piddling around last night I found in this course In the key of A Lick 5 Griff says the first 3 notes are from the Major and then nods to the minor. Well I don't see where the 2 nd string 6th fret note is coming from. When I play both major and minor boxes over that lick that note is not in the scale unless I'm overlooking something.

    Where is it coming from?

It's not in either scale. It is (I think!) a b6, which, if is in something called the Harmonic Major scale. It might just be a passing tone. Better ask Griff.
