Jam Challenge - Show Us Your Stuff!

This is something a little different. Normally I would post this track in the VJR, but the accompanying video gave me the idea to put it in the For Your Review section.

Gary Hoey put together a jam track (and it's obviously homemade). It's about 4 1/2 minutes long. He put it on his Facebook fan page and challenged anyone interested to do a video, jamming over it. I asked him if he would mind if I shared this and I got his blessing. I'm just throwing this out in case, since I know we have a few members who have done something similar in the past.

It's taking Jim an awful long time to comb his hair, so I'll go first.:D I'm afraid the iPad didn't pick up the backing track very well. It sounded fine to my ears in the room, but It's come out a bit thumpy on the video. The TTT cuts through it quite well though, so I apologise for that.:D

This is a great idea Lloyd!! No retakes or punch-ins!! One take only. Fairly puts the pressure on!!:eek: I was just getting warmed up when the track faded!!!:sneaky:

Davy, can you make your link "www" instead of "dl"? I can't get it to play without downloading.

Didn't quite work - I think that changed the text but not the link.

Oh dear. I'll see if anyone else can get it, and if they can't I'll just pull it. I'm really not very techno minded, and just dropped it into Dropbox and copied the link, like I would in the VJR. Just in case no one can get it to work....., I was brilliant!!!:D

The forum software recognizes when you paste a link in a post. When you hit Post Reply, such a link gets converted into a URL linked to text. The text it uses is whatever the link said when you hit "Post" (in this case, probably that was dl.dropbox...). Users see the text, but that text was also saved as the stored URL. When you edit your post, you can edit the text but that won't automatically change the URL. In fact, it's not obvious how to edit the URL - one way is to put your cursor inside the linked text, then click the chain-link icon in the post-editing toolbar. You'll get a text field with the URL and you can edit it there.

What I did was I copied your link, pasted it into my post, changed "dl" to "www", then I hit Post Reply.

I didn't even check out Gary's playing, I jumped right to MM and enjoyed every bit of it! (y)

I see he's still flaunting that Tele and he's got the nerve to wear a Gibson strap :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Man, talk about jumping in with both feet! Excellent show, MM! I still haven't taken the time to sit down and run through the jam track and you're already knocking it out of the park!
