Just joining the forum after some years with BGU. I took up the guitar late in life like many BGUers, it seems, and it has brought me a lot of joy. I had an absolutely inspiring time at Arrowhead for BGU live. Thanks to all for your generous support, camaraderie and good humor. Met Griff on the way in and he told me I'd feel like I had a boat oar in my hand, and sure enough it felt like I was carrying the whole boat. It was trial by fire and I felt totally safe to jump in because of the great atmosphere created by all.

Welcome, Jim. I can't place a face to your name (there were a lot of 'Jims' at the event) but I'm sure I saw Group P play.

My experience was similar to yours when it came to performing but it did get slightly better with time. All the more reason to play in public as much as possible and to come back for another BGU Live, right?

Jim: Welcome to the forum and enjoyed being with you at the event - also my first,but have played in front of people previously in other venues in life, so not quite so daunting for me. That being said, being in front of so many other of Griff's students - not to mention the master himself! - I found some butterflies as well! For all who have not attended - go for it next time,or whenever you can get with another BGU group. They are supportive, fun, and help remove the crazies from you (as much as can be or you will allow!!).
