Example 5.4...What song is this inspired by?

So, while away from the guitar but having computer access, I decided to watch all of the videos, to get an idea of where the course ends up. There are many examples that resemble songs I know and enjoy, which I was excited to discover. There is one though that I just cant nail down; Example 5.4. I have heard this but can seem to place it. Anyone know it?

When I first heard this I thought of Talking Heads, and Squeeze. It has a “New Wave” vibe to it. But Island in the Sun by Weezer seems to be what I was hearing in the example. I’d say change the key, but it may not have a key?It might be better described as a circle of 4ths(5th) thing....like Hey Joe. Anyway, changing the progression to Em—>Am—>D—>G makes it sound like this Weezer song to me. (Although it may be in G, but opens on the 6 instead of the 1?)
