ones like the marshall closed back, I really couldnt hear a difference with it just being wattage, I only heard it between brandsThat's a nice buyer's comparison, but with different speakers in each cabinet, it's more an evaluation of the speaker/cab combo than of the cab itself.
I find cabinet construction (particularly size) has a much greater effect on sound in a closed back cab. Also, not all speakers are well-suited to use in a closed back cab.
Hey Steve, you need some kind of baffle or else the sound waves coming off the back of the speaker are out of phase with the ones from the front and they will just cencel each other out.Screw cabinets! I took all of them out and just lay my speakers on the desk. It's a lot more up close and personal. YMMV
