Lesson 9 "A How-How-How"

Hey all...I'm continuing to work my way through the BGU course and I loved this lesson. I love John Lee Hooker (ZZ Top too) and this rhythm. Anyway, as Griff said, the right hand was the challenge with this and at first I found holding the pick plus plucking with the fingers awkward. I had trouble at first holding onto the pick, maybe because it's winter and my hands were dry. What worked for me was to download the lesson and slow it down even more than Griff's slow version. I use a program called Transcribe! and I slowed it way down and as I got comfortable playing through without errors I would increase the tempo by a small amount like 5% and repeated this until I got to 100% and then I did the same thing with the fast version. This really, really helped build the muscle memory in my hands to nail this lesson!

Chris, absolutely brilliant!! I use transcribe all the time but never even thought about using it for the audio from the course. Thanks for sharing the idea..
