Yes, I know, there isn’t just one Albert King lick…

But, this lick, or some variation of it, shows up in darn near every… single… song.

So, it’s probably worth learning.

      Hey Griff,
Just a quick note just to say thanks, been following you for a couple of years now, you have helped me to develop some depth in my playing to a level I’m really beginning to enjoy my guitar even more in that I’ve gotten out of an a typical rut that all learners go through.
You are a logical thinker and great teacher.
I’m sure you get lots of great feedback, but I just wanted to personally say thanks.
Long may you continue to make music understandable and enjoyable.
      Regards
      Rob C

Love that lick! Whenever I hear one of his songs playing, I’ll know just when it’s about to come up and hum along with it. Thank Griff!

Hey Griff – just a head’s up to check the levels between your guitar and the looper when recording.
This video, and one other recently, I found the looper a little hard to hear.
      Thx.

I love the tone you are getting in this lesson. What are your settings, and are you using any pedals?

    • Goldenman52

Hi Griff, what guage strings are you using on your guitars , acoustic and electric ? Thanks.

great lesson. would you consider doing the same thing with Stevie Ray’s intro to Texas Flood?

      • JimJ

I too would love a lesson on the Texas Flood intro~!

    • Jim

Great lick(s), Griff! So cool the way you can dissect and explain so many classic blues ideas!
As someone just starting to improvise a blues solo, this really is encouraging – even if I’m only comfortable with just
      Box 1! Thanks!

    • Scott R

Without playing the video I knew exactly which lick you were going to use. Yes, it’s his signature.
Thanks for spelling it out for us Griff…

    • Terry

Sweet. Got to love the licks you can get Alot of use out of. I use that Dvd of SRV and Albert all the time as like a jam track. Just try and copy what there doing. The songs are long and they both repeat there licks so ya get a good chance to copy them. (If) you can could you pull a few rhythm parts of that some time ?

    • Rick

You seem to use a looper quite a bit these days. I think one would help my practice, which one should I get?
      Cheers, Rick

      • Drew

There is a super cheap but effective looper by “Ammoon” it sells for about $30 new on eBay or amazon. It is fairly simple but well worth the money. I love mine!!

      • Griff

Any one will do… I have a Boss one (the small pedal) and I have one built into my Line 6 M13. A couple of my delay pedals also have loopers in them.
