Muddy Waters is one of the first blues guitarists to come out of the Mississippi Delta and really shake things up in Chicago and beyond.  Muddy has inspired several generations of blues musicians, including myself, with his raw music and stories.  Fortunately, with technology the way it is today, there are early recordings that we can hear and see featuring the incomparable Muddy Waters.  I pulled together a few performances that aren’t necessarily his most popular recordings, but feature him playing the guitar.  I hope you enjoy the performances as much as I did!

It was difficult for me to find videos that featured Muddy Waters on guitar, since his voice was such a popular trait of his.  Fortunately I found three recordings that feature Muddy on guitar.  The first is an audio recording of Muddy down in Mississippi and can be found here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hprMGHiHdJs.

The next video features a great video performance with Muddy and his band playing the song, “Long Distance Call.”  Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1gpDcc3FBI.

The last video I found for you featured Muddy and his band playing the song, “You Can’t Lose What You Never Had.”  Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgHQalqG6E8&feature=related.

There are many great blues recordings from Muddy Waters, so it was hard to narrow it down to just three songs in this post.  But like I said before, I wanted to find recordings that featured Muddy on guitar and vocals.  I hope you enjoyed the videos as much as I did.

Thanks,

Griff

This was GREAT! The last two brought back memories. I saw Muddy in Sept ’66 in a show in San Francisco which included the Butterfield Blues Band and Jefferson Airplane. He and his band were the best.
