8 Bar Blues With A Bridge

Today’s video is based on a request for a video about how to play Peter Green’s “Need Your Love So Bad.” So I checked it out and I really like how it’s an 8 bar form with a bridge.

It made a good lesson so here you go… enjoy!

Download the video – MP4 | WMV

Download the chord chart – PDF

And in case you want to hear the video I got this tune from it’s here.

This classic was written by Mertis John, Jr and recorded by his brother Little Willie John in 1955.

My favorite version is by the Allman Bros – here’s the studio track off of Enlightened Rogues.

Thanks Griff, big big fan of Peter Green and this is one of my favourites! Any chance of a tutorial for Man of the World? Quite possibly my top fave tune from Greeny……just can seem to get my fingers around that one 🙁

Thanks a bunch, Griff. I’ve been practicing this song for a few weeks, and I’ll be doing it at BGU Live, so thanks for setting us up with the band. Still working on the last 16 bars of solo like Peter Green did it. Awesome song.

Your lessons and daily messages are great to use. I don’t know how you make it much simpler than other guitar teachers, but you do! Really appreciate being in your email loop. Many Thanks/

There are a lot of blues songs with a bridge if you count country style blues. Two songs that come to mind are I’ll hold you in my heart, and Now after loving you. Originally country songs but if you listen to the Elvis versions of both, it sure is blues.

My favourite rendition of this classic song is by Gary Moore. I just love the passion he gives it. So many versions from Montreux too. Goose bumps….
    Thanks Griff
