There are certain finger movements that you tend to see come up over and over again in blues soloing…

So in today’s video we’ll talk about 3 licks that showcase some of those movements (even though LOTS of licks would demonstrate them because they come up all the time.)

If you find that finger speed and getting through licks is an issue for you, you might want to check out my Blues Speed Building Blocks course – it’s designed to help that and has worked very well for many of my students.

Thx Griff, good stuff (as usual).

3rd lick is the beginning of Jimmy Page’s Stairway To Heaven solo…I know you said recently you don’t play much Led Zep but there it is!

      Hey Griff,
Off topic but could do some videos on tuning problems, my D cord and I seen to be at war now that the weather has turned to winter.
I am spending way to much time chasing “in tune”

Great stuff Griff…..Not to change the subject, but could you WRITE in the rhythm of your POPULAR 4 note solo, note for note(using all the 1 and a, 2and a, etc) so we could download it. As you know, it is in 12/8 time and giving me and maybe others, problems counting it.. Maybe just the first chorus would be sufficient. There are many rhythms in that first chorus that are rather difficult. Thx , Griff

Had a great time with this today. Thanks again. Looking forward to playing around with this some more tomorrow.

I love those licks. There are so many great licks that work their way down to the E note on the 5th string.

Thanks so much, I’m grateful for the excellent instructional videos. I haven’t played in over 30+ years, and after finally getting out of the rat race, I’ve invested in a guitar and amp and have started trying to jumpstart the muscle memory..Things are going a little slow right now but your videos are really helping to bring it all back…..!
Thanks a million and keep it up…..Your never to old for rock-n-roll…….!

Thanks for putting this on You tube.
It makes it a lot easier when I’m working off the computer
      in the studio.

      Cheers

      Brilliant Griff…..keep rockin`

This is good stuff that even a struggling not so newbie player do. With a little extra effort even I can embellish the moves and make them sound really cool. Of course getting the timing down matters but that is why Griff counts out the timing.

It’s all good. I have to say out of these licks, lick 3 just does it for me. Love that sound.

More stuff to put in the bag of tricks in short order. Thanks
