I’m having trouble with the two note chords getting the top string (the one I pluck) to be loud enough. Too much volume with the pick and not enough with the other. Would appreciate tips on how to balance them out.

You are very talented I do most of the singing in my band but am getting better every day with the guitar and the band allow me to play 4 leads at the moment with your help I want to play at least half which would be up to 60 of the songs we do we change our songs each night and do up to 30 songs per night but that’s a 3.5 hour set. I look forward to your next lesson. Yours sincerely Martin.

Since starting with your instruction I have been sitting for hours with both acoustic and electric guitars practicing my heart out and having the time of my life. Thank you for what you are doing.

  35. Roy Bonner says:

I guess that at 67 years young, I’m must be one of your oldest students! I got my 1st (Spanish) guitar when I was 9 in 1956, built my 1st solid electric in 1962.and was over the years self taught, BADLY! However, when made redundant after the Rolls Royce crash, I moved to Scotland and made a living playing first guitar and then bass for several years. Now I have retired though, I want to learn how to play the beasts properly. I have a Fender Strat, and a telecaster and a P Bass and a Yamaha Pacifica, 2 Peavey amps, 2 Fender amps and a small Stagg 20W.
Yours is the first proper tuition I have ever had, and it is a real eye opener, I just wish it had been available when I was young enough to have really benefited from it, never the less, I shall endeavour to make the most of all you can teach an old fossil like me.
My heartfelt thanks to you Griff.

  36. Henry 'H' Nield says:

Your teaching on videos like this have inspired me to buy the ‘Blues Guitar Unleashed’ which I really look forward to receiving and working with. Meanwhile just getting these 3 rhythms together, especially the timing and how they sit in the backing track, is a really valuable step in getting playing the blues together. Thanks a bunch Griff – your systematic teaching method stands out from the crowd.

  37. Claude Wadsworth says:

Hi Mr. Griff, I am 78 yrs old. As a toddler I sat on the front porch steps an watched and listened to my Dad strum an old Stella round hole flat top and sing all the current Jimmie Rodgers blues songs and others.. and growing up I learned all of his expertise , 3 chords.. and now at my present age I purchase 3 electric guitars, two epiphones and one fender. while searching for guitar accessories on the web I ran across your video , that was 3 or4 days ago , I have downloaded all your videos and I am going ,with your help , learn to play at least one of these 3 guitars, Thank you for sharing your knowledge , you are a Good man.. thanks again ,ClaudieBoy

  38. Claude Wadsworth says:

    Hello Mr. Roy Bonner,
At present time I have a long time sweetheart who lives in Inverness Scotland .
I met her in 1956 while on a secret mission stationed in Dingwall we are still in touch almost daily via Skype..

Let us check for any older students,,, nice meeting you
    Claudieboy

  39. Dennis McTaggart says:

You’re a genius Griff! My son, who is a very good musician, has been in despair at my incompetence with the guitar which I have been attempting to play for longer than he’s been on this earth. Well… he will get a surprise when next we play. Thank you.

  43. Harry Marks says:

Well Griff, sorry to up on Mr Bonner but I’m 84. Unfortunately crippled by arthritis but still struggling to get a few notes out. You are the best teacher an old guitar enthusiastic would-have-been could wish for, I love your patience! I wish I could avail myself of your full course but it would be a waste. but thanks a million for the beginner lessons that will keep me amused for the last few years.

  44. Really pleased I found this stuff. Best I’ve seen yet – keep it up.

  45. Ken says:

I’m a 67 yo disabled veteran, thought I would try to learn a little blues guitar on my bucket list. Its been fun learning from you at my age..Its taken me a little while to get this far but now find myself getting excited that I can play a little!

  50. EJG says:

Thanks Griff! This cones at a perfect time for me. I’ve been going to a weekly jam and have come late to the realization that rhythm is what makes the song work. I’ve been struggling to find something cool to play and I think this is just the ticket.
